| Synthetics wipe off more easily and last longer but don't provide the color depth and beauty that carnauba wax does. I prefer carnauba. I prefer to wash the car today, blow dry and start the detail tomorrow so the water has time to seep from the cracks. I don't like water in my wax. I always start at the top and work my way down. I prefer microfiber towels. I start with a wash using dish washing liquid. Nothing removes grease and old wax like Mom's dish washing soap. I then claybar the entire paint surface and follow that with another wash. At this stage your paint including trim is clean but unprotected. Let it dry overnight. I use a 5" hand orbital polisher and Meguiar's No. 21 polish. This will take out the swirls and other surface imperfections. I then protect the surface applying and buffing Meguiar's No. 7 carnauba wax by hand. If you still have energy, use Meguiar's spray-on detail polish to make the paint look deeper and thicker, almost wet. I dress the moldings after the paint so it doesn't get on the unprotected paint surface. This is just how I do it. Wheels and tires are another issue.
